Lisa Middleton is an Independent Democrat with a track record of working with Republicans and Independents to deliver pragmatic, common-sense solutions to some of our region’s greatest challenges. A first-generation college student who grew up in a working-class community, Lisa has dedicated her life to serving our communities.

 

Now Lisa is running for State Senate to advocate for hard-working families across Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, defend reproductive freedom, rebuild our roads and bridges, and demand accountability on California’s homelessness spending.

 

  • Lisa is a committed advocate for reproductive freedom and will fight to protect women’s rights and access to safe, legal abortion. In the Senate, Lisa will work to increase funding for reproductive healthcare clinics and protect patients and doctors who come to California from states where abortion has been criminalized. That’s why she is endorsed by Planned Parenthood and Reproductive Freedom for All California.

  • On the City Council and Riverside County Transportation Commission, Lisa is known as a hard-working leader who works with Republicans and Democrats to invest in rebuilding local roads, bridges and public transportation, while creating good-paying, middle-class jobs.

  • Lisa nearly doubled funding for local police in Palm Springs while on the City Council. The police chief in  Palm Springs says Middleton is “one of the best elected officials” he has  worked with in 40 years of law enforcement. That’s why local police and firefighters who know her best have endorsed Lisa over her opponent for State Senate.

  • Lisa will stand up to Democratic leadership when necessary to prevent tax increases on the middle class, working families, and small businesses.

Senator Ochoa Bogh is a Sacramento politician who does not represent our values and is beholden to special interests who have spent millions of dollars supporting her campaigns.

 

  • ​Ochoa Bogh is an anti-abortion extremist who has consistently voted  against bills to protect reproductive rights for women.

    • She voted against a bill to protect women from being prosecuted for having a miscarriage or pregnancy loss. 1

    • She was endorsed by an organization that opposes abortion even in cases of sexual assault and incest. 2

    • Planned Parenthood gave Ochoa Bogh a 0% score and Reproductive Freedom For All California called her “Extremely Hostile to Reproductive Freedom.” 3

  • Ochoa Bogh has a track record of supporting big corporations and special interests like oil and tobacco companies, who have spent millions of dollars supporting her campaigns. 4 She has consistently voted in ways that harm our health and put regular people at risk.

    • After oil and gas companies spent over $1 million to get her elected, she voted to allow new oil and gas wells near schools, nursing homes, and hospitals. 5

    • She voted against a bill to protect children and families from lead paint, which results in lead poisoning in children that damages their nervous systems, brains and organs and leads to permanent severe health, learning and behavioral problems. 6

  • Ochoa Bogh has consistently voted against common-sense gun safety laws, even as California had a mass shooting every six days last year. 

    • She opposed a bill to ban firearm advertisements targeting children and refused to support a law to prevent the sale of untraceable “ghost guns.” 7
